ARIC is guided by an accomplished management team that is committed to a successful return to the marketplace who bring with them over 170 years of experience in the insurance industry. The senior management team all have significant and hands on experience in the markets the company will be serving. Key members of the management team include the following:
Joseph DeChatelets – President
Mr. DeChatelets joined AIRC in 2018, bringing over 30 years of successful
leadership experience in the insurance industry. He has extensive experience,
holding management positions in Marketing, Sales, Underwriting,
Regional Operations and Company Management. He began his career as an
independent agent in Northern Wisconsin in 1986 and moved to the company
side in 1988. Mr. DeChatelets was an officer at Auto-Owners Insurance
Company and President/CEO of Rockford Mutual Insurance Company.
He is dedicated to enhancing associate, agent and policyholder experience
and committed to educational excellence. He holds a B.A. degree
from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire majoring in Journalism
and Business Administration. He holds many designations in the
insurance industry including CPCU and CLU.
Stephen Pate – Secretary/Treasurer
Mr. Pate is an original employee hired in 1982 with extensive knowledge of the Company’s history, supports the president with
developing and administering the long-term strategic plans for the Company. Mr. Pate earned a Bachelor of Science in Commerce degree from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama.
Nina O’Hara – Vice-President, Finance
Ms. O’Hara brings 22 years of insurance experience to the table, the bulk of which was with ARIC. Prior to entering the insurance arena itself, she spent five years in public accounting and was the auditor in charge for the ARIC independent audit. She is responsible for the oversight of investment and fiscal results and will assist in the development and implementation of the company’s strategic goals and objectives. Ms. O’Hara earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree from the University of South Alabama.
Michael Brady – Vice-President, Underwriting
Mr. Brady has over 38 years of experience in the insurance industry from both an agency and company perspective. He began his insurance career with Aetna Casualty and Surety before becoming an independent agent. He returned to the company side of insurance in 2001 as head of ARIC’s underwriting department where he successfully developed the book of business the company currently seeks to reclaim. In addition to leading the underwriting initiatives of the company, he is also responsible for formulating new underwriting, product and business development programs to maintain ARIC’s viability and future success. Mr. Brady received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Diana Gough AIC, CPCU – Manager, Claims
Ms. Gough was with ARIC from 1997-2000 and then with Auto-Owners for 13 years and has recently rejoin ARIC is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the claims department and ensuring that all claims are thoroughly adjudicated and handled with the same superior service standard that ARIC agents and insureds have become accustomed to. This includes prompt contact with the agent and policyholder, proper investigation and timely reserving and resolution of claims.
Yan Chia – Director of Information Technology
Ms. Chia began her career in the insurance business joining ARIC in 2002 as a network administrator prior to her current position as head of the IT department. She has an extensive background in both programming and network administration and has developed many of ARIC’s in house business applications. She earned both her Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science degrees from the University of South Alabama.
